Shake The Lake: a 170-page wakeboarding graphic novel

How is it that the entertainment machines, filmmakers, creatives, authors, and artists, which have churned out thousands upon thousands of stories, in seemingly every genre, topic, and medium imaginable hasn't yet given wakeboarding a story? No movie? No book? No graphic novel?

A few summers ago, at the Bullhead City River Regatta, vendors had come from far and wide to promote shoes, t-shirts, wakeboards, trinkets, and watersports equipment to a huge gathering of fun-loving youth.

A realization dawned on two brothers that they and this crowd were hungry for content that showcased and reflected their culture, lifestyle, and hobbies.

So "Shake The Lake," a wakeboarding graphic novel was born somewhere between the Nevada/Arizona border in 100+ degree weather amongst a frenzy of bikini and boardshorts clad hooligans.

Written by Zach and Machi Block and illustrated by brother/sister artist team Andrea and Diego Lopez-Mata, the crew at North Air Entertainment are 3/4 of the way done with their wakeboarding comic.

The two-year-plus work is split into four individual volumes which are made available for sale as they are individually completed

The four parts will eventually live as a 170-page single graphic novel.

In "Shake The Lake," a group of Midwestern riders storms an Arizona lake town to defend a bullied marina from a snobby yacht club and its two hard-nosed park rangers.

The crew throws a professional wakeboarding event, and chaos ensues.

The world's first wake comic will be fully completed by summer 2018. For more information on the wake comic, visit shakethelakecomic.com.
