Steel Lafferty is well known for breaking new ground in the wakeboarding world, and his new project tackling the stunning Siete Tazas (Seven Cups) rock formation, in Chile, is no different.

The American and his trusted team set up a daunting run comprising seven waterfalls and seven jumps including breathtaking drops of seven and eight meters.

"It was a very crazy idea and very difficult to make. I think it was the most complicated place I had ever been," said Steel Lafferty.

Lafferty and his team of climbers spent hours finding natural anchors such as rocks and trees to rig up the tow line that helped propel him down the incredible run.

"There is this huge glacier up in the mountains, and when it melts, it creates this beautiful formation of waterfalls that we can attempt some crazy stuff on."

Steel mastered the drop of around seven meters, but could not land the final jump of approximately eight meters.

"The final jump was like dropping out of the sky. That feeling you get on a rollercoaster. I will come back hopefully in the next few years and conquer it," added Lafferty.

The 25-year-old went three days without amenities, facilities or even a phone signal. Lafferty was the first wakeboarder to land a wake-to-wake 1080 and a toeside backside 900 off a double up.

Chile has been chosen as the best country in the world to practice adventure tourism.
