The Yard: because wipeouts happen

"The Yard" is a Russian adventure into the world of big wave riding, in Hawaii.

Sergey Gilgenberg and Dmitry Bogdanov have teamed up to film an artistic documentary focused on a simple plot. It's a story about different people and how they managed to link their lives with the ocean and its huge waves.

"The Yard" features big wave surfers and big wave windsurfers. They do what they have to do, in the most extreme conditions. They have let the ocean alter their lives.

The all-round water sport movie features a back-to-basics approach, an almost "naif" conception. There's the challenge, there's the fear element, and there's the technology behind stunts.

Keith Teboul, Seva Shulgin, Boujmaa Guilloul and Sergey Zavershinskiy ride the waves of "The Yard".

Now more than ever, surfers have a great responsibility on the shoulders. Here's what makes a complete, contemporary wave rider.
