The story of Monty Spindler, one of the most prominent personalities in the history of windsurfing, has been revealed in a movie.

He sailed everything - from Optimist and Laser dinghies to Original Windsurfer and Formula sailboards. Monty Spindler bought his first windsurfer from Ken Winner, in the mid-1970s.

He began making windsurfing sails, and worked with multiple sailing inventors, including Michael Ready, Stuart Jamison, and Newman Darby. However, Spindler owes his much of his sail design knowledge to Kame Richards. Both sailmakers produced the earliest mylar windsurfing sails.

In the 1980s, Monty's reputation didn't stop growing. He worked several years for Neil Pryde, North Sails, and ART Sails, until deciding to start his own windsurfing brand in the early years of the 21st century.

Loftsails was born in Tarifa, Spain. In "Wind Vision: The Monty Spindler Story," windsurfing enthusiasts will be able to witness how this man lives his passion, day by day, gust by gust.

"I get amped about my work, so all you need to hear is the trees moving around. And then I get in the Loft early and try to get to the work so I can get on the water," says Monty Spindler.

"The wind is just telling me; it's writing its book on the surface of the water. So, I want to get out there and read. That's how it is."

Monty Spindler breathes windsurfing. Without it, he is nothing.

Surfing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will take place in the ocean, not in a wave pool. The waiting period runs from July 24 to August 9.
