Matteo Romeo: having fun in Jericoacoara

Italy not only has spectacular conditions and spots for windsurfing, it has also produced several top performers in the past years. And Matteo Romeo is one of the best Italian windsurfers of his generations.

Romeo, 23, hails from Como, a small city located in the north of Italy, blessed by a giant lake with the same name. The freestyle windsurfer learned many of his favorite maneuvers there, but he has already been traveling the world.

Matteo Romeo loves his home spot, but he has recently discovered outstanding wind opportunities in Lagoa Grande, a stunning lake located near Jericoacoara Beach, Brazil's windsurfing and kitesurfing mecca.

The Italian traveled with two very well known windsurfers - Mattia Fabrizi and Dario Troiani - who helped him with the video clip. The footage speaks for itself.

Romeo went out with his 4.0 and 4.4-meter sails and proved he could be an exciting addition to the 2017 PWA World Tour roster. Because creativity is never dull, and the Italian prodigy sure knows how to impress.

The push through, or punch through technique allows surfers to get past a small broken wave and reach the lineup without having to duck dive or turtle roll.
