Kiran Badloe and Patricia Freitas claimed the RS:X titles at the Sailing World Cup Series final, in Santander, Spain.

The 2017 World Cup Series is over. After winning three regattas in a row, Badloe reached the medal race with a comfortable 16-point advantage over his direct opponent Louis Giard.

"I was either going to sail my own race and go for the win or cover the French guy. I had a pretty bad start, so I had to tack off, but from there I sailed my race which enabled me to be at the top of the fleet," explained Kiran Badloe.

On the women's side, Patricia Freitas also managed to win three races and earned a 20-point lead over Yunxiu Lu. In the medal race, and knowing that only a disqualification would damage her results, the Brazilian kept her composure and secured a maiden World Cup Series title.

In the Formula Kite division, Nico Parlier smashed his opponents with a near-perfect performance and put an end to Oliver Bridge's three-year dominance at the World Cup Series.

"It was very good, with great weather and atmosphere. We have been doing six races every day, so it has been fun. I have been training a lot for this and I was quite good at reading the wind, that's very important in kiteboarding," concldued Parlier.
