Windfinder: the new interactive map features several weather forecast parameters

Windfinder, an online wind and wave forecast service, announced the introduction of interactive weather maps on its website and mobile apps.

The company headquartered in Kiel, Germany, wants to make it easy for users to check wind direction, wind speed, and air temperature, and other weather variables in their favorite spots.

With the new intuitive presentation, which finds the windiest and best locations for sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and surfing, Windfinder will directly compete with online marine forecast solutions like Windy.com.

According to Oliver König, managing director of Windfinder, the new layout allows users to access full-screen data with zooming and panning, and switch between the classic spot forecasts and the new maps.

Because of its very low data consumption, the new Windfinder promises to be the ideal pick for mobile usage on smartphones and offshore sailing.

König also told SurferToday that his team expects to add new variables and parameters to the animated forecast map, including swell predictions.

Windfinder has been delivering wind and wave forecasts since 1999.

August 3, 2016, was a day that surfers should never forget. For the first time in its long history, surfing was confirmed in the Olympic Games.
