Guillermo Sfiligoy and Diony Guadagnino: windsurfing partners for life

In 2008, Guillermo Sfiligoy suffered a near-fatal car accident. As a result, he spent ten days in a coma and became paraplegic.

Sfiligoy has always been passionate about the ocean, but his disability stopped him from doing some of the things that truly made him happy.

But the day has come. With the help from professional windsurfer Diony Guadagnino, the Venezuelan architect and motivational speaker got back to the water.

The duo met at Playa El Yaque, one of the most famous windsurfing and kitesurfing spots in the world located on the south side of Island of Margarita, in Venezuela.

"I am so excited. This is it. This is the day. We started planning this whole thing last year. We thought: 'let's think how we will tie up to one another. We didn't know exactly how,'" explained Sfiligoy before hitting the water.

"Windsurfing is energy. It's strength, connection with nature, freedom. And we tied up to each other to be freer," added Guillermo Sfiligoy.

And when the wind started to blow at El Yaque, the duo knew it was time to make history. After a few unsuccessful attempts, team Sfiligoy-Guadagnino started sailing. What a joy!

"If God gives me the opportunity to have another life, I'll remember you."
