The 23-year-old windsurfer secured the fourth wave windsurfing title of his career at the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sylt PWA Super Grand Slam, held in Germany.

The North Sea didn't disappoint, delivering the storm force winds and powerful waves needed to test the world's best wave sailing performers.

All eyes were on world title contenders Philip Köster and Victor Fernandez. If the German won the semifinal against his direct opponent, we would immediately be crowned world champion.

But that didn't happen. The Spanish windsurfer unleashed giant double forwards and back loops and outperformed Köster in the wave face. The young German was forced to give all he had in the upcoming battles.

So, after watching Fernandez beat Marcilio Browne in the single elimination winners' final, Philip knew he had to put everything on the line to celebrate yet another world title in front of his home crowd.

In the losers' final against Alex Mussolini, Köster landed a double forward and sent the world title discussion to the double elimination clash. Ironically, the young German won the second battle with a trick invented by his Spanish opponent.

Philip Köster performed a klei and a goiter on the same wave and sealed the deal with the highest scoring heat of the entire competition. The fourth PWA Wave World Tour title was in his hands.
