The first North Sea Cup event of 2009 was already a big success.

In total 86 competitors from France, United Kingdom, Holland and Belgium travelled to Ostend this weekend for some exciting international competition.

The Techno293 and Raceboard fleets completed seven races during the weekend, from patchy light wind with strong current on Saturday up to 16 knots and big fun planing conditions on Sunday.

The FW fleet managed 4 races.

Stuart Hards (GBR 597) showed a great overall performance in the T293 class; with strong performances also from Julien Boutilleux (FRA 67) and Koen Sonck (BEL 2) respective winners in the Raceboard and FW fleets.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
