Steven Van Broeckhoven claimed the 2018 EFPT Sardinia, at Porto Liscia Windsurf Club, in Italy.

The European Freestyle Pro Tour is back to the stunning shores of northern Sardinia, eight years after the last event. At the time, windsurfers were greeted with both light breezes and howling winds.

This time, and despite the shifting conditions, the thermal westerly winds allowed the completion of the event. Pro and amateur sailors delivered a fantastic show of style and creativity.

After beating Antony Ruenes and rankings leader Tonky Frans, the multiple-time EFPT champion, Steven Van Broeckhoven, overcame Swiss talent Loick Spicher.

All the Belgian windsurfer had to do was unleash his trumps. With a culo, a regular chachoo and an air funnel on starboard tack and a barracuda, a shaka, and a lollipop on port tack, he earned one of the highest scoring heats of the competition.

"I am super stoked winning the event in Sardinia! Today, and with light wind, it was hard work! But I still made it possible together with the awesome equipment!" expressed Van Broeckhoven.

The 2018 EFPT season is now on fire with the top five windsurfers separated by only 140 points. The next stop is Matas Blancas, in Fuerteventura.

Paddling a longboard is relatively easy, but you should know how to do it right. The trick is in the weight distribution, and paddling angle.
