Teahupoo: Charles Vandemeulebroucke enjoys a perfect wave sailing session at Tahiti's infamous surf break

Charles Vandemeulebroucke is a passionate windsurfer, and rarely misses an opportunity to go wave sailing in Tahiti.

The sailor from Dunkerque, France, currently lives in Tahiti and is sometimes blessed with epic sessions in Polynesian waters.

The story behind these shots is pretty simple. They chronicle a dream windsurfing week in Tahiti.

"As I was just coming back from Hawaii for my annual gear pick-up trip to the Quatro/Goya shop in Haiku, the only thing I was dreaming of was a good forecast to be able to test all my new beauties!"

"My 2019 sails are perfectly adapted to Tahitian reef breaks. Keith had just once again delivered me a customized masterpiece of a sailboard with the very last innovations of shape and construction."

"In other words, everything was set! I was like a kid on the day after Christmas. And I was lucky too - the forecast turned into gold for a full week, which is not normal, especially in November, the late season period."

"For six days in a row, I was able to sail perfect, one-to-three meter reef waves down the line in 12-to-40 knots. Moreover, the sun was as bright as it could be and we almost didn't see a cloud for the entire week."

"I sailed Tahiti's five major wave sailing spots in a row and had a blast on every one of them. What a holy week!"

"And because perfection is all about the little extras, I ended the week at Teahupoo on a fun day with my two mates for one of the easiest, most accessible, beautiful sessions you could dream of."

"Teahupoo is the beauty and the beast, but sometimes it's just the beauty and seems to be touched by the finger of God. I think it's good to show this aspect of the monster, too."

"My sails and board are the most amazing thing I've put my feet on. And, yes, windsurfing is the best sport ever. Now, my gear will be stored for a few months, but I have pictures in my head to go through these times."
