2010 Asian Windsurfing Championships

Michael Cheng Chun Meung (HKG 16) and Siripon Kawduang Ngam (THA 57) emerged as 2010 Asian Champions after a further two races on day 6 of the Championships.

Both sailors went into the final day in pole position and despite two firsts for Chen Mubin (CHN 23) in the boys fleet, it was not enough to overhaul the overnight leader. Lee Chun Tiung (HKG 40) took the final podium positon.

In the girls fleet Siripon added another two wins in races 9 &10 to compliment the two first on the previous day of racing. She excelled in the lighter winds that predominated in the second half of the regatta. Lin Hai Xia (CHN 22) and Man Ka Kei (HKG 37) held on to take second and third overall - with other members of the China team close behind.

The top two nations in both the boys and girls fleets have qualified to compete in the first Youth Olympic Games that will take place this summer in Singapore:

Boys - HKG and CHN ; Girls - THA & CHN

Another two races on the final day of the championship and despite the light winds, and not scoring a win in today's racing, EK Boonsawad (THA 30) did enough to keep his place at top of the Raceboard podium. Phanuthat Ruamsap (THA 44) and Apichart Tibtubmark (THA 9), with a win each today, held on to 2nd and 3rd overall.

It was a similar pattern in the Mistral One Design fleet - with Navin Singsart (THA 20) maintaining his form and rightly claiming the title. However it was a much closer affair for the remaining podium positions with 4 sailors in with a chance. Ultimately the spoils went to Seksan Knunthong (THA 10) and Natthaphong Phonoppharat (THA 1), with team members Heung Pak Sun (HKG 5) and Mak Yik Kau (HKG 8) finishing 4th and 5th overall.

A good day for WATH and team Thailand.

Whether you think of a kite as a wing or a sail, you want it to be lightweight, resistant, waterproof, but also stiff and flexible at the same time, so that they could respond to all flight requests.
