Bonaire: a windsurfing paradise island

Sorobon Beach, Bonaire, in Dutch Antilles, will once again host the IFCA Youth Freestyle World Championship.

Scheduled to run from July 28th through to August 1st the event will also feature the IFCA Pro Kids and Junior Freestyle championships.

A world reknowned windsurfing location, Bonaire is also the home of many of the world's top competitors - Kiri Thode, Taty and Tonky Frans to name but 3. A place where "lifestyle = freestyle!"

As part of the Netherlands Antilles, Bonaire is also a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Windsurfers also make a strong group of island tourists, as the east side of the island (facing the Caribbean Sea) has the large waves and wind gusts needed for windsurfing.

Rob Bain, Layne Beachley, and Dave Macaulay have taken out the Azores Airlines World Masters Championship in the Grand Masters, Women's Masters and Men's Masters divisions held in good three-foot surf at Praia de Santa Barbara.
