Gareth Wood: slalom master

Gareth Wood has taken the 2011 New Zealand Slalom Windsurfing National title, after holding a clear six-point advantage over James Dinnis and Rowan Law. As he was not racing the Formula 42 board, he did not qualify for the Oceanic title.

Rowan Law secured the Oceanic Slalom Championships trophy all for himself, followed by Paul Vliestra and Terry Beentjes.

Annie Crombie and Sue Bradley were tied with 16.75 points each, but Crombie's advantage in the final ride (only 0.07 points) gave her the biggest smile.

In the Under 20's division, Carey Lawrence, from Auckland, was faster than Dan Meechan, Tom McGregor and Harry Reed.

Dimitri Maramenides, the founder and owner of Epic Kites, rode his kite a few hours before Hurricane Florence hit the East Coast of the United States.
