Wave windsurfing in Peru: natural ramps

The South American Windsurfing Championships will be held in the Pacasmayo Beach, in Peru. The wind sailing event will be competed in the Open, Masters, Women and Youth (Under 20's) .

Windsurfers from Peru, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela and Uruguay will be hitting the waters between the 20th-24th April, in the La Libertad region.

Pacasmayo is considered one of the best places in the world for windsurfing. The spot delivers big waves that provide full entertainment for expert windsurfers, but also for intermediate level riders.

The wave height reaches two metres and it is possible to enjoy a ride for more than 300 meters. When the swell comes from the north and hits the coast, there are incredible conditions.

You can find waves all year round, especially from April to mid-June and from late August through mid-October. The Peruvian Windsurfing Association promotes competitive and recreational windsurfing in the South American country since 1982.

The Golden State boasts more than 1,000 miles of coastline, as well as some of the world's best surf breaks. And the Ventura County Coast is one of the original birthplaces of California surf culture.
