American Windsurfing Tour: sunny and windy

The American Windsurfing Tour 2012 has released a tentative tour plan for the next season, in the path of the 2011 success. Santa Cruz had 76 competitors, Pistol River had 86 windsurfers, San Carlos 25 sailors and Maui a whopping 107 competitors.

Unfortunately, the Hatteras Wave Jam was canceled due to Hurricane Irene, but the American Windsurfing Tour is looking forward to compete there next year.

There were 223 different windsurfers registered for the 2011 AWT. Nathan Mershan won the Pro class category of the AWT tour, Morgan Noireaux the Youth class and Ingrid Larouche the Ladies category.

Media coverage was great, too. The Maui contest had over 115,000 views of the live cast. The original plan for 2012 has Santa Cruz opening the circuit, between May 3rd-6th.

Nevertheless, all spectators, fans, sponsors and local authorities are invited to send their ideas, suggestions and opinions. The tentative 2012 American Windsurfing Tour dates are:

Santa Cruz Classic: May 3rd-6th
Pistol River Wave Bash: June 14th-17th
San Carlos Cactus Cup: July 28th-August 4th
Hatteras Wave Jam: Mid September
Maui Makani Classic: October 25th- November 3rd

Surfing is for life, right? Well, in theory, it should be. But in reality, sometimes the destiny has other plans for our existence.
