2012 Défi Wind: Tramontane only allowed a Fun Race

The 2012 Défi Wind has been concluded in rather untypical weather conditions. Unfortunately, the Tramontane wind didn't appear to salute the 850 windsurfers, at Gruissan, France.

The "Défieurs" are coming back home with a feeling of bitterness for not having the opportunity to participate to a more formal race, but all the same glad to be the witness of such a Défi-out-of-control.

This year, there's no official ranking for the Défi Wind. An Overall Ranking including all previous editions has been created born and will change with every edition.

Pascal Toselli, from Marseilles, keeps the first place among Men and Christine Couturier leads the Women's fleet. A unique rule stands in this ranking: the ones who have missed an edition get 1000 points.

The 2012 Défi Wind put out a Fun Race, so that the competition feeling is kept alive. Windsurfing legend Anders Bringdal took the top honours. "I try to quit competing in the Défi... but I couldn’t".
