Paracas: experiencing the winning formula

Paulo Dos Reis is the new 2012 Formula Experience world champion, after claiming the class championships at Paracas, Peru.

In the final day of competition, three races were run in light wind conditions and three sailors battled hard for the best positions.

Nicolas Schreier was on form, beating Spaniard Pablo Ania over the line to take two bullets, leaving Paulo Dos Reis to wallow in third. But then Pablo took the third win of the day and Paulo forced Nicolas to settle for third.

"Despite my best efforts, I couldn't make second place overall and finished third. I really feel very happy because this championship has been the best, super competitive and hard-fought. The wind changed each day of the Championship and that made you become very adaptable. The fight between the top places was amazing and incredibly tight", said Nicolas Schreier.

Bay of Paracas has proven to be a wind machine. There were very disputed races from beginning to end, suspense, triumphs and joys, podiums, prizes and medals. The 46 competitors came from all over the world.

The Formula Experience champion is Marcello Morrone. The Formula Experience Youth champion is Gabriel Bastos, Bruna Mello took the Women's title and Alessio Botteri is the undisputed Formula Experience Junior Champion.
