La Route du Ch'ti: windsurfing is all about team work

The French town of Armentières is warming up for the 6th edition of "La Route du Ch'ti", to take place between 15th-16th September.

Last year, the Léo Lagrange Sailing Club saw a record attendance of 192 sailors and stand-up paddleboarders. This time, up to 250 participants are expected. In 2012, the "Les Prés du Hem" park will hold the famous Sunday race, in which teams of two or three contestants try to run as many laps in the lake as possible.

The record is still held by the local duet Julien Boutilleux and Sylvain Dehouve, with 34 laps. Julien Bontemps, the 2012 RS:X world champion, will race the RS:One Cup, the Beach Race Paddle and the five-hour challenge of "La Route du Ch'ti".

If you don’t have an equipment and are willing to participate, don't worry. The sailing club can provide you with windsurfing equipment and about twenty 2012 Stand-Up Paddles are at your disposal, for the symbolic amount of €5.

Last but not least, the competitors and their friends will have the luxury to discover "Les Prés du Hem", a 120-hectare site designed for the whole family, as well as to enjoy the various free activites all weekend long.
