Gunnar Asmussen: German gunner

The sailors of the German Windsurf Cup experienced a succesful start in the new 2011/2012 season, in Eckernförde. Due to good wind conditions and great weather three slalom eliminations and four Formula races took place.

The overall winner of the event is NorthSails teamrider Gunnar Asmussen, from Flensburg.

"It was a difficult event, gusty and shifty winds brought us some hard conditions, but my gear works pretty perfect, so it made it a little bit easier for me. I’m very happy to win the contest and lead the German Championsship 2011/2012 now", said Gunnar.

Asmussen gets the first important ranking points ahead of Sebastian Kördel, second place and Matt and Fabian Helge Wilkens, from Kiel. In fifth place, John Schade and Denis Standhardt share equal points.
