Irish windsurfer Mikey Clancy passes away at 22

Mikey Clancy has passed away at the age of 22. The Irish sailor had a passion for wave windsurfing.

Mikey Clancy has left the windsurfing world, family and friends in a state of shock. The pro rider from Dublin, Ireland, was preparing to compete at the 2013 PWA World Tour.

Clancy had just recovered from a serious ankle injury and was already training for the next challenges. His favorite windsurf spot was located in Magheroarty, Ireland.

The young wave windsurfer had an average training scheme of 10-to-15 sessions per month. Mikey Clancy also enjoyed big wave windsurfing and defied giant wave faces, on the Donegal coast.

Mikey Clancy was an Irish Junior and Under-19 champion. The regular-footed windsurfer will forever be remembered for its passionate attitude in life and in water sports.
