Défi Wind Japan will return to Miyako Island, in Japan, for its second edition, from February 1-8, 2020.

Building on the success of the first edition, the long-distance professional and amateur windsurfing event is gaining momentum.

The paradise island is expecting 150 windsurfers.

Rabbit Starts and simple courses will allow the amateurs to measure themselves against the pros on the water, but also to share their passion out of the water while experiencing the fascinating Japanese culture.

The Défi Wind Super Stars

But this year, the Défi Wind Japan will not stop there. A new challenge has been added to the schedule: the Défi Wind Super Stars.

Loyal to its roots, the Défi Wind team allows eight of Japan's best riders to qualify and compete against the windsurfing stars in the ultra long-distance marathon.

This new event for 32 riders will take place from February 6-8, also in Miyakojima.

The eight qualified riders on the Défi Wind Japan will be able to compete against the 24 windsurf legends and try to beat to earn 50,000 euros in prize money.

Antoine Albeau, Björn Dunkerbeck, Matteo Iachino, Pierre Mortefon, Delphine Cousin, Sarah Quita-Offringa, Nicolas Goyard have already been confirmed.

Do you dare to challenge them in the Land of the Rising Sun's paradise lagoon?

20 Years of Défi Wind

Finally, the original Défi Wind will be celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The world's largest windsurfing event hits Gruissan, in France, from May 21-24. Don't miss the opportunity to join the party together with more than 1,000 windsurfers.

The local Tramontana is one of the most powerful winds on the planet, and the racecourse is 40-kilometers long.

It includes three jibes only and miles and miles of full speed opportunities run along the beach, with pros and amateurs kicking off together on the same starting line.

Some will be competing for top spots; others won't. But everyone's mind is set on the "sharing passion" mode.
