Philip Köster and Daida Moreno have taken out the 2018 Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival, at Pozo Izquierdo, in Las Palmas.

The 30th anniversary of the wave sailing event had some of the best conditions in years, with 50 knots plus of wind on several days, and plenty of swell.

Four-time PWA World Tour champion Philip Köster kicked off the season with an impressive performance whether going for huge jumps and loops or applying critical maneuvers in the wave faces.

In the final, the German windsurfer landed an outstanding stalled double, push loop forward, and went for a near-perfect triple loop. Köster won in Gran Canaria for the sixth time.

"What an amazing week it has been! I'm more than happy with my first place. I had the best support ever from my family and the best condition to compete, so there was nothing else to ask for," expressed Köster.

On the women's side, it all about knowing who could challenge the Moreno's reign. The answer was Sarah-Quita Offringa, even though the Aruban had to settle with a runner-up finish.

Daida Moreno, who won all events in Gran Canaria since 2000, except 2012, was once again crowned Queen of Pozo Izquierdo thanks to her ultra competent display of creative maneuvers.

The Spanish sailor landed back loops, a one-handed back loop, a one-footed back loop, a tweaked push loop and a one-of-a-kind stalled forward to steal the trophy from Offringa.
