Wilhelm Schurmann: racing to victory in the Margarita Wild Winds

Wilhelm Schurmann and Diony Guadagnino have dominated the Margarita Wild Winds 2012, sailed off the coast of Venezuela. This is one of the best slalom and freestyle windsurfing spots in the world, with the consistent trade winds and friendly atmosphere.

The 2012 edition was superb. Lots of wind, good races and over 100 heats of windsurfing and kitesurfing battles. There were 80 riders competing in the several windsurfing divisions.

In the Long Distance Races, Diony Guadagnino, Ricardo Campello, Wilhelm Schurmann, Alexis Carache and even Gollito Estredo were sailing fast and looking for an overall victory. Guadagnino was the most consistent rider and got off victorious.

In the Slalom Pro category, Guadagnino started very well with four bullets. In the second day, with lighter winds, Schurmann was sitting in fourth, but he was out on a mission and recovered very well to win it by just 1.25 points over Diony Guadagnino.

Third place went to Alex Carache, one of El Yaque's fastest sailors, followed by Ricardo Campello, in fourth. This proves his talents are not only seen on Freestyle and Waves. The same applies to Gollito Estredo, who finished in the Top 5.
