Wilhelm Schurmann: speeding up to the title

Wilhelm Schurmann and Levi Lenz have claimed the South American Slalom and Wave IFCA Championships, at Praia do Futuro, Fortaleza, Brazil.

In the 15th anniversary of Wind Brasil, organizers decided to take the action close to the beach. There were four days of incredible windsurfing action taking place in the wind spot.

On the first day, a total of three Slalom finals were run on 10-to-16 knots of wind, with sailors taking their biggest equipment out. Wilhelm Schurmann won the three finals.

The second day saw Schurmann taking all five Slalom finals and on the third day the light side-offshore winds hit Praia do Futuro.

On the first Semifinal, local sailor Levi Lenz advanced against Wilhelm Schurmann, after scoring two good waves. In the other Semifinal, Ian Mouro beat Lucas Padilha.

On the Loser's Final, Wilhelm and Padilha had a close heat. Schurmann edged Padilha for the third place. In the final, Levi Lenz took control over Ian Moura and got some nice waves showing that his local knowledge of the spot is huge.

"The event has been running for the 15th year straight and as the only sailor to race on all the editions, I was stoked to win the Slalom event and finish third in the waves", says Wilhelm Schurmann.
