Steven van Broeckhoven: first ever European Tow-In champion

Steven van Broeckhoven has conquered the final of the European Tow-In Championship, which took place at Podersdorf Beach, in Austria.

With a beautiful sunset in the background, it was the perfect scenario for the first ever title in this windsurfing division. Windsurfers are towed by motor powered engines and, after being released, try to complete Freestyle tricks and moves.

Kiri Thode, from Bonaire, scored 29,75 points for a Double Funnel pirouette and earned himself the bronze medal. In second place and after two incredible runs, Gollito Estredo.

The 4-times Freestyle world champion from Venezuela landed an Air Burner 900 and then, a perfect Funnel into Burner which got 34,25 points from the judges.

Steven Van Broeckhoven scored 37 points for the most perfect Triple Funnel finishing with a sail duck in the end. The Belgian windsurfer gained full speed and his board out of the water three consecutive times in a row. Incredible fast move.

He was extremely close to the judging platform, the spectators loved it and showed their appreciation with huge applause.
