Surfing heals. There's no doubt about it.
Professional surfer and keynote speaker Alex Gray has been holding surf therapy meetings for a while. He wants to help people cope with the loss of a sibling.
It is not an easy task, but Gray has lived through worse. He lost his brother Chris to heroin addiction and, suddenly, everything changed in his life.
"I lost my brother 14 years ago, and it continues to be the most impactful moment in my life," explains Alex Gray.
"I've been lucky enough to have been given the gift of surfing by him, which ultimately has saved my life numerous times."
Alex created Agray Surf Therapy, a regular gathering at the beach in which people share stories about lost loved ones with the ocean by their side.
The support group meets monthly to surf, talk, or simply listen to each other's thoughts. It's a way of overcoming grief and give meaning to life.
