IBA Brazil

The Brazil event is 100% confirmed and is shaping up very nicely.

The event will be held at Brava Beach in Itajaí. Chico and the boys from Brazil are keen to show the World their great country and awesome waves.

The event will carry $30,000US for Men & $20,000US for Women.

World Press Photo 2008

The Portuguese photographer and photojournalist Miguel Lopes Barreira (Record newspaper) achieved third place in World Press Photo's best shots in the Sports Action category.

Barreira's photo shows Jaime Jesus, a Portuguese bodyboarder, in a middle of an aerial move, surrounded by white water.

The shot was taken in Praia do Norte, Nazare, a Portuguese coastal town known for its world class tubular waves.

The photojournalist got the moment on the 16th December, during a Portuguese Bodyboarding Championship.

The 2008 World Bodyboarding Men’s title is about to begin at what is arguably the world’s best and most famous wave at Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands.

2007 World Champion Ben Player (Avalon, Australia) will be keen to kick off his campaign and launch his attack on the 2008 IBA WMT (World Men’s Tour) with a win.

Last year, Ben made it clear to all that he meant business and was serious about reclaiming the title with a flawless performance in the opening event at the heaviest wave on tour at the Human Cronulla Shark Island Challenge. “I really enjoy Hawaii. It’s always been a great testing ground for me and I am hoping for another great start to the year ” said Ben.
