Anas Haddar has taken out the first event of the 2019 European Tour of Bodyboard (ETB) season.

The rider from Morocco claimed the Caparica Bodyboard Pro, in Almada, Portugal. Haddar defeated Carlos Suarez, from Spain, in the final.

"I am so happy to this event. Congratulations to the European Surfing Federation for the amazing organization. It showed a great image of the sport," expressed Anas Haddar.

"I hope I return next year to the beautiful town of Caparica. Congratulations to all the competitors. They showcased a really high level of riding with high scores being scored from the beginning of the contest."

In the women's division, four-time world champion, Isabela Sousa, kicked off the defense of the European title in the best possible way.

The 28-year-old Brazilian bodyboarder beat Madalena Padrela in the final.

In the pro junior category, it was a local athlete who took the top honors. Joel Rodrigues defeated his fellow Iberian opponent, Javier Zerpa.

The next stop on the 2019 European Tour of Bodyboard is the La Salie Pro. The contest gets underway in French water in August.
