Iain Campbell has taken out the 2020 Mike Stewart Pipeline Invitational, at Banzai Pipeline, Oahu, Hawaii.

The South African bodyboarder managed to steal the show with an outstanding Perfect 10-point ride in the last five seconds of the final.

Campbell ended up defeating three world-class Hawaiian bodyboarders - Tanner McDaniel, Jeff Hubbard, and Sammy Morretino - in an extremely tight heat.

The iconic event got underway in classic six-to-eight-foot surf, with plenty of tube riding opportunities and spectacular ramps for aerial maneuvers.

Iain Campbell competed for the first time at Pipe in 2010. His time was now.

"It's the best wave on the planet. The amount of time I put in here and coming back every season, it's been worth it. It's my second time in a final. I can't believe it. I'm shocked," said the 2017 APB World Tour champion.

"The first wave of the set didn't look great, and when I turned to look at the next one, I said to myself: 'man, this could be the one.'"

"I tried to keep it together, and the scoop was super steep. I was really beneath the wave, and then I came out and saw Sammy on the shoulder, screaming. It's been an unbelievable two days. We couldn't have finished it on a better note," concluded Campbell.

Japanese rider Miya Inoue reached the quarterfinals and ended up being the highest placed female competitor. She finished 13th in the overall rankings.

"Pipeline is so dear and special to myself and so many other wave-riders around the world. It was so great to see some of the world's best put on such clinical performances out there," said Mike Stewart, the event organizer.

"While Tanner certainly was the rider to beat all day, I'm stoked for Iain Campbell to take the win. He has put in so many years of his life into Pipeline, and this is a just reward for those efforts."
