Game Description
Sudoku is a very popular number puzzle game that comes in various grid sizes, with the traditional version played on a 9x9 grid.
The goal is to fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9, making sure that each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all the digits without repetition.
This classic form of Sudoku provides a challenging mental exercise and is commonly found in newspapers, puzzle books, and online platforms.
You can also play it online here.
The puzzle starts with some cells already filled with numbers, and the player's task is to complete the grid by logically deducing the missing numbers.
The rules are simple:
- Each row must contain all the numbers from 1 to 9, with no repetition;
- Each column must contain all the numbers from 1 to 9, with no repetition;
- Each 3x3 subgrid must contain all the numbers from 1 to 9, with no repetition;
In addition to the 9x9 version, there are variations with smaller grid sizes, such as 6x6 and 4x4 Sudoku.
In a 6x6 Sudoku, the grid is divided into six rows, six columns, and six regions, and the goal is to fill it with numbers 1 through 6.
Similarly, in a 4x4 Sudoku, the grid is divided into four rows, four columns, and four regions, and the objective is to fill it with numbers 1 through 4.
These smaller variations provide a more accessible experience for beginners or players seeking a quicker puzzle-solving challenge while still adhering to the fundamental rules of Sudoku.
