Kiteboarding Australia: a new governing body is born

Kiteboarding Australia is the new governing body for kiteboarding in the land of kangaroos.

The former Australian Kite Surfing Association (AKSA) has been restructured and five regional organizations will form the Kiteboarding Australia (KA).

Kite Boarding Vitoria, South Australian Kite Surfing Association, Western Australia Kite Surfing Association, Kiteboarding New South Wales and Kiteboarding Queensland are part of the new Kiteboarding Australia.

Given the significantly smaller participation of the sport in these areas, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory will not immediately be State based members of Kiteboarding Australia.

Much of the work by the inaugural board so far has been centered around developing and implementing the appropriate legal structure for KA.

"We are now well into developing the strategy that will decide who we are, where we are going and how we are going to get there", explain the new KA Board, led by Gavin Stevenson, Terry Langford, Justin O'Malley and Campbell King.

Meanwhile, Kiteboarding Australia is promoting surveys which will provide valuable information to make key decisions in the coming weeks and months.

It's almost finals' day at Playa Llacolén. The 2018 Antofagasta Bodyboard Festival (ABF) continues in La Cupula, one of the finest boogie waves in Chile.
