Kitesurfing pioneers: the story of Mike Waltze

Mike Waltze lives and breathes Hawaii. The surfer-cinematographer who directed "That First Glide" was one of the first surfers to take on Jaws and to ride waves using ram air kites.

Waltze was born in Port Beach, California, but he moved to Oahu, in Hawaii, when he was still young.

He got into windsurfing in 1969 and, three years later, he was already a proud owner of the iconic "Windsurfer."

Don Montague has always been passionate about the ocean. When he was young, he made sails for his skateboard and canoe.

He only discovered windsurfing at the age of 16, after watching Robby Naish in VHS videos. But he instantly knew, he wanted to ride the wind.
