Cayman Islands: a kiteboarding heaven in the Caribbean Sea

The Rock International Open (TRIO) will be Cayman's first annual kitesurfing competition, to be run from February 12th-16th.

The crystal clear waters of the Cayman Islands are getting ready for an exclusive kiteboarding contest.

Featuring three separate events - Freestyle, Big Air and Racing - TRIO will put competitors through their paces against a Caribbean paradise backdrop that many just dream about.

The spot offers temperatures during the winter at a tropical 28-30 degrees, and it's windy almost every day from November right through to April.

Susi Mai has been confirmed as one of the guest judges. Cayman Islands are looking forward to become a top kitesurfing location around the world.

Grand Cayman, the largest of the three Cayman Islands, will host The Rock International Open. The island is known for its coral reefs and underwater sea walls, along with a number of shipwrecks.

James Boulding, Manuela Jungo, Sensi Graves, Amy Strzalko, Aryen Gonzalez, Phil Larcher, Craig Cunningham, Colleen Carroll, Damien LeRoy and Maya Ogorzalek are some of the kiteboarders who have already confirmed their presence in the inaugural kiteboarding competition. uses cookies to ensure you get the best experience on our website.
