The inaugural Water Kings will combine the sports of kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding, and sailing in an innovative competition format.

The event scheduled for July 23rd-24th will take place in Lagos, Portugal, and invites teams of three or four athletes to participate in a 12-hour competition which starts in daylight and ends well after dusk.

Francisco Lufinha, the current Guinness world record holder for the longest non-stop kitesurfing journey, is one of the organizers of the water sports challenge.

"The choice of Lagos for the premiere of Water Kings was very natural because it has been, for many years, my election zone for holidays with friends practicing sea sports," explains Lufinha.

"I launched the challenge to the City Council, and we decided to start working right away since the combination of the conditions of Lagos with this unique format has everything to be a success."

The Water Kings will take place in Meia Praia Beach. Contestants will try to do as many laps as possible in 12 hours, from 1 pm to 1 am.
