Pudla Narapichit: Thai kiteboarding star

Pudla Narapichit, also known as Yo, has conquered the Course Race and Freestyle trophies of the first Hua Hin Kitesurfing Thailand Championships 2011. The inaugural event was held by the Hua Hin Kiteboarding Community and aims to find new future stars and to to make kiteboarding in Thailand more safe.

More than 40 kiteboarders competed in 20-25 knot winds. In the Course Race contest, "I went out with my Ozone 15m Edge in the first round but it was a bad size choice. I got super over powered on the way to the up-wind buoy, but I was still in control and managed to finish first across the finishing line", says Yo.

In the next round, the experienced rider changed to his Edge 11m and got perfect power and control for the conditions. The result: Yo finished first again, in the second and third rounds.

"I’ve been waiting for a long time to have a kitesurfing competition in my country (Thailand) with my Thai mates from everywhere like Samui, Bangsan, Pattaya, Rayong, Pranburi and Hua Hin team. Since 2006, when I first started to compete all over Asia, this was the first time I had fun with many Thai riders".

The second day started with fun Freestyle. Some riders went straight into their heats, still hungover from the night party. The wind was unpredictable and all the judges decided to give Yo another victory.
