Hound of the Sea: Wild Man. Wild Waves. Wild Wisdom.
"Hound of the Sea" is Garrett McNamara's ultimate autobiography.
In 2011, GMAC set a new Guinness World Record for the largest wave ever surfed. The 78-foot (23,7 meters) mountain of water was ridden at Nazaré's Praia do Norte, in Portugal.
Since then, McNamara has become a well-known legend across the world. In "Hound of the Sea," the Hawaiian reflects on his motivation to risk his life, the thrill of big wave surfing, and his passion for the sport.
Interestingly, the name McNamara is a contraction of the expression "Mac Cu Na Mara" meaning "Son of the Hound of the Sea."
