The man often named "the surfer's surfer" was a key personality in the development of big wave surfing in California and Hawaii.

But Mickey Muñoz is more than that. He is a surfboard shaper, sailor, stuntman, boat builder, and designer.

"The Mongoose" was born in New York. Thanks to his vision, we now have the "Quasimodo" surf stance. Munoz worked with Hobart Alter in the development of the Hobie Cats and P-Cats.

His surfing skills can be seen in "Riding Giants."
