Chris Martin: an accomplished surfer

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is a passionate surfer, having been spotted catching waves on several occasions.

In 2010, he was seen surfing in The Hamptons, in New York. Earlier in 2003, Martin suffered an injury after an honeymoon wipeout in Mexico.

Chris Martin was born on the 2nd March, 1977, in Exeter, England.

He is the lead singer, rhythm guitarist and pianist for the band Coldplay, which was formed in 1996, after he met Jonny Buckland while attending University College London.

The first album released by the band, "Parachutes", in 2000, was a success. They have since released five other albums and many EPs, all well received by critics and public alike.

Coldplay has been distinguished with several awards, such as eight Brit Awards, seven Grammy Awards and five MTV Music Awards.
