The world of surfing is ready for one of the most anticipated movies of the decade. "Andy: The Untold Story of Andy Irons" promises to reveal the whole story behind the Hawaiian idol.

Andy Irons was more than just a prolific surfer. Philip Andrew Irons was and is an icon, a one-of-a-kind character, and a unique personality with multiple inner personas.

He won three ASP World Tour titles (2002, 2003, and 2004) and conquered the admiration of fans and opponents with a warrior-style approach to competitive surfing.

Andy Irons was an emotional athlete rather than a calculative sportsman.

"Andy Irons: Kissed by God" is an ambitious project by Teton Gravity Research.

The documentary unveils the pro surfer's life story, who lost his life at 32, just one month before the birth of his first child.

"Andy Irons, to me, was my older brother, my hero. He is the person I wanted to be like, no matter what. Andy, I know that you're always with me. If I close my eyes, I can see you, feel you," expresses an emotional Bruce Irons.

A Tough Goodbye

Andy Irons died on November 2nd, 2010, in a hotel room in Grapevine, Texas. He was en route to his home in Kauai, but he didn't resist a cardiac arrest following the ingestion of a mixed drug cocktail.

The rivalry between Andy and Kelly Slater will forever be remembered in the history books as the story of two extraordinary pro surfers who boosted the competitive scene and fuelled the evolution of the sport.

You'll see Slater in tears and relive some of Andy's greatest rides.

But for many of us, Andy Irons is still out there, exiting an impossible barrel, wiping out in a giant Pipe close-out, smiling and smashing surfboards, winning events, and insulting the judges.

Philip Andrew Irons's last Championship Tour event was in Peniche, Portugal. After his death, the Governor of Hawaii declared February 13th the "Andy Irons Day."

"Andy Irons: Kissed by God" premieres May 2, 2018, in Los Angeles.
