Josh Moniz conquers the 2018 Volcom Pipe Pro

Josh Moniz has taken out the 2018 Volcom Pipe Pro, at Banzai Pipeline, on the North Shore of Oahu.
The first Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 contest of the 2018 season got underway in perfect 10-foot Pipeline.
The Hawaiian defeated Jamie O'Brien, Weslley Dantas, and Cam Richards, and raised the warrior helmet in glorious and perfect 10-foot Pipe.
Moniz conquered the Volcom Pipe Pro for the first time, but O'Brien kept things tough for the winner, especially having locked in a stunning, perfect 10-point ride.
"This is everything. It's been my dream to win here. I can't believe surfing against Jamie. I look up to him since I was a little one," expressed Josh Moniz.
The young gun, 21, secured the win with two deep barrels which were which were highly cheered by the crowd on the beach. Now, Moniz dreams of qualifying for the elite in 2019.
"One hundred percent this is the best win of my professional career. The only win that will get better is a Pipe Masters, so hopefully, down the line, I can do one of those."
Moniz joins a short list of Volcom Pipe Pro champions that include John John Florence, Kelly Slater, Soli Bailey, and Jamie O'Brien.
Jack Robinson claimed the Todd Chesser Award.
