Freddy P: watch out for aerial moves

Pro surfer Fredrick Patacchia, 29, suffered an injury to his left knee during a free surf with friends, in North Shore.

Freddy P had just returned from the 2011 Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast and is concerned that he may be sidelined for the upcoming Drug Aware Pro, in Western Australia, and for the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

Doctors will evaluating Patacchia in the next days to report the official diagnosis of the injury.

"I was feeling good," said Patacchia, who finished the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast with an equal 13th result. "We were surfing with only four other dudes in the water and my board was feeling good under my feet."

Freddy P went for an aerial move and landed his weight on the left knee, upon landing. He was still able to walk but soon understood there was something wrong.

The Hawaiian surfer may ask for an injury wildcard, if he isn't in physical conditions to jump into high performance surfing competition.
