Shark attack: lucky surfer, unlucky surfboard

It's a ride Jim Rawlinson will never forget. Rawlinson, 68, was surfing Hanalei Bay, Kauai last week when he was lifted out of the water.

When the tiger shark, estimated to be in the 14-foot range, started chomping on his board, Rawlinson (who has to be the calmest man in the world) simply slid off his stick and onto the shark's back!

Jim was able to shimmy his leash off and, once the shark tired of eating chunks of foam, Rawlinson retrieved his board, caught another few waves, then paddled in an hour later.

We don't know what's more unbelievable - the fact that Jim survived without a scratch, or that he kept surfing after being attacked by a shark.
