Sunny Garcia: power surfer, any doubts?

Tom Curren, Sunny Garcia, Mark Occhilupo and Kaipo Jaquias will battle in the upcoming "Clash of the Legends", to be held in conjunction with the Reef Hawaiian Pro 2012, in Haleiwa, Hawaii.

Four of surfing's most mythic rivals will surf against one another, in the first jewel of the 30th Anniversary of the Triple Crown of Surfing. The North Shore of Oahu will be pumped up.

"Haleiwa was pumping all weekend. Super stoked to get some waves under my belt and can't wait to defend my titles with the Reef Hawaiian Pro and Clash of the Legends", says Sunny Garcia.

With five world titles among them and $20,000 in prize money up for grabs, Curren, Garcia, Occhilupo and Jaquias will surf in three 25-minute heats in Haleiwa, waiting for the optimum conditions to come together to paddle out and go to work.

"Old rivalries never die. Time may pass, you may become friends over the years, but you get out in the water and the competitive juices start flowing. You go out there wanting to win", adds Ross Williams, who took out the Clash of the Legends at last year.

The Clash of the Legends brings an air of legacy and tradition to surfing's most prestigious contest series.
