Dillon Perillo: paying sponsors investment

Dillon Perillo has taken out the Los Cabos Open of Surf, in clean two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves, at Zippers, Mexico.

Perillo defeated Beyrick De Vries by posting an 8.67 and 9.57 for an eclectic mix of committed forehand maneuvers to conquer his first major ASP Men's victory.

"Mexico is one of my favorite places in the world. I've been coming down here surfing with my Dad since I was a little kid. This was a sick contest. I was so nervous the whole time in the Final. I was just telling myself to breathe and try and relax", says Perillo.

The former standout on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series, developed a free surfing career in the last years and now makes a victorious return to competition in 2013.

"At the beginning of the year I didn't do so well. I went to Pipeline and lost, Newcastle I made two heats, made a heat in Puerto Rico and lost first heat in Japan, and then to win here, it's crazy. I'm doing Acapulco and El Salvador and hopefully I can do well", he adds.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved surfing's qualification system for the Tokyo 2020.
