Surf's Up 2: Cody Maverick is chasing giants

The sequel to the 2007 action-comedy about surfing penguins, "Surf's Up," has been confirmed. The film will be released in 2017 by Sony Pictures Animation and WWE Studios.

In "Surf's Up 2: WaveMania," Cody Maverick convinces the big wave-riding crew known as The Hang 5 to let him join them on their adventure to a mysterious surf spot called The Trenches.

The goal is to find and ride the biggest waves in the world.

However, Maverick rapidly discovers that the life he left behind might be more heroic than what any death-defying wave has to offer.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) stars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, Diva Paige, and Mr. McMahon will lend their voices to the members of The Hang 5.

"Surf's Up" was directed by Ash Brannon and Chris Buck. The cast included Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, and Sal Masekela.

The movie got an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Film but only grossed $149 million dollars at the box office.
