Sao Tome e Principe: perfect warm waves, skilled surfers

São Tomé and Príncipe is an island nation with several different types of waves and exciting natural attractions.

The Best Spots

Radiation Point (Praia de Algés) is one of the best point breaks in Africa.

This right-hander should be avoided in high tide, but the ride is long and perfect.

Batismo (Praia das Pombas), Dique (Santana), Agua Izé, Lo Grande (Praia do Lo), and Porto Grande will surely conquer your heart.

At Rolas, the small islet, find Point Zero Lefts and Praia Pestana.

With warm water and great waves, São Tomé and Príncipe's surfing population is growing rapidly, and the nation is planning to enter the international surf scene in competition mode.

The best swells for surfing in São Tomé and Príncipe will usually hit the islands between June and September.

Southwest winds will definitely make it perfect, and you won't need boardshorts, too.

Before traveling to São Tomé and Príncipe, get a vaccination against yellow fever and protection drugs against mosquitos.
