The Guibia Surf City Festival will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, between 14th-15th April. Dominican Surfing Federation will organize the event along the famed Malecon at historic Guibia Beach.
Guibia Beach is one of the first beaches in the Dominican Republic where modern surfing was first introduced in the 1960's. The event celebrates the restoration of the area, beach and plaza by the National District City Council of the city of Santo Domingo, which has reopened after five years.
The tournament will include participation of surfers in the disciplines of Surf, Longboard and Bodyboard, welcoming surfers from all around the country, as they compete for their place in the national ranking of the circuit for the 2012 season.
Guibia Beach is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, along the South Coast of the Dominican Republic. The weekend competition is a festive event for families, friends and spectators to enjoy the sport of surfing and encourage and support city youth.
The Guibia Surf City Festival is a surfing event organized with the support of the Sport and Recreation Ministry, Dominican Olympic Committe (COD), Cluster Turistico Santo Domingo and the Associations of Surfing and Bodyboard in Santo Domingo.
