Jordan Lawler has taken out the 2019 Vissla Sydney Surf Pro, at Manly Beach, New South Wales.

The Australian surfer defeated Championship Tour campaigner Jadson Andre in clean two-to-three-foot waves, and in front of thousands of cheering surf fans.

Lawler secured the most important win of his career. The North Narrabeen local was competing close to home and felt inspired to make history.

"This is easily the best day of my life. It's like a dream. I've worked my whole life to get to this stage, and it paid off," explained the young athlete.

"The waves were a bit slow and, at the start, I tried a couple of airs. I didn't make them which was a bit stressing, so I had to adapt to the conditions."

"It's been my plan to qualify for the Tour my whole life. This is definitely a start, but I have to make it happen first," concluded Lawler.

On the women's competition, Alessa Quizon proved she has what it takes to get back on the elite group of female surfers. The Hawaiian beat Isabella Nichols in the final.

"It's funny because I came here with no expectations, and just wanted to free surf. But now that I won an event, I guess I'll try to qualify into the CT," said Quizon.
